After a really upsetting trip to Town Lake with our good friends Katie and Gomez (which including much wobbling and falling--and one very scary trip into the lake), I am actually THRILLED to report that the steroids seem to be a magic pill of sorts. At the lake, Skylar relied heavily on her "boyfriend" Gomez for stability and support (and he was gracious and sweet enough to allow it); this behavior is also replicated at home where Sky uses walls, people, and furniture to steady herself. I won't sat that she is operating at 100%, but there is a marked improvement. She can hold herself up during potty breaks (this is new), and she is mostly walking on her own in a semi-straight path to wherever she's headed. I can't tell you about happy I am with this new Skylar. I know her critical health issue remains, but she seems so much more content and confident in her steps.
